Equifax Inc
Equifax is a consumer and business credit reporting company. It collects financial and employment data, organizes that information into credit files and risk scores, and sells those reports and analytics to lenders, landlords, employers, insurers, and other businesses that need to judge credit risk or verify identity. It also serves consumers directly with credit monitoring and identity theft protection products. The company makes money by charging customers for access to credit reports, credit scores, fraud checks, income and employment verification, and other data services. Its core role is sitting between the people and businesses that generate financial data and the institutions that need trusted information before making lending, hiring, or onboarding decisions. That makes Equifax a data utility in the credit system, not a bank or lender itself. What sets the business apart is the built-in demand for reliable identity and credit information. Lenders and employers need this data to make decisions quickly and manage risk, and consumers need a way to track and protect their own credit profiles. Equifax’s value comes from gathering data from many sources, standardizing it, and turning it into products that customers can use in everyday decision-making.

Beat and raise: Equifax reported second-quarter revenue of $1.7 billion, up 11% reported and 10% constant currency, and said the quarter came in above its April outlook. On a constant-currency basis, full-year guidance was raised, even though weaker foreign exchange offset the reported outlook.
Margins surged: EBITDA margin excluding FICO was almost 35%, up 120 basis points year over year and well ahead of the company’s long-term framework. Management said AI-driven productivity and operating leverage were the main drivers.
Mortgage was weaker: U.S. mortgage revenue grew strongly, but management said the market was softer than expected as rates rose to about 6.6% from 6.3% in April. Full-year mortgage assumptions were trimmed to the low end of the prior range, though share gains helped offset the slowdown.
Government momentum: Workforce Solutions government bookings totaled about $300 million in the last four months, including about $100 million of new business and $200 million of renewals. Management said most of the benefit will show up in 2027.
AI investment ramp: Equifax doubled its AI-for-EFX productivity target to $150 million from $75 million, saying adoption is moving faster across operations, technology and support functions and is already helping margins.
Círculo deal: Equifax agreed to buy Círculo de Crédito in Mexico for an enterprise value of $750 million. Management said it should close in the fourth quarter and be accretive in year 1.
VantageScore push: The company said VantageScore volume nearly tripled sequentially to 2.2 million transactions, helped by broad lender testing. Equifax plans to keep VantageScore priced at $1 through the end of 2027 to support adoption.
