Bureau Veritas SA
Bureau Veritas is a testing, inspection, and certification company. It helps businesses prove that products, equipment, buildings, and operating processes meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Its work includes laboratory testing, factory and site inspections, audits, and issuing certificates that confirm compliance. The company sells these services to a wide mix of customers, including manufacturers, energy companies, construction firms, ship operators, and governments. Customers pay for independent checks that help them reduce risk, pass regulations, win contracts, and keep products moving through supply chains. Bureau Veritas makes money mainly by charging for inspections, tests, audits, and ongoing certification work. What makes its business model distinctive is its role as a trusted third party. Bureau Veritas does not usually make the products it examines; it sits in the middle of global trade and industry, acting as an outside verifier. That gives it a steady role wherever buyers, regulators, or insurers want objective proof that something is safe, compliant, or fit for use.

Growth accelerated: Bureau Veritas reported 5% organic revenue growth in the first half, with Q2 accelerating to 5.5%, and said demand remained healthy across most businesses.
Margins improved: Adjusted operating margin rose to 15.5%, up 29 basis points at constant currency, while adjusted EPS increased 9.8% at constant currency.
Outlook raised: Excluding businesses planned for exit, full-year 2026 organic revenue growth guidance was upgraded to mid- to high single-digit growth; margin improvement and strong cash generation guidance were maintained.
Portfolio reshaping: Management said LEAP | 28 portfolio rotation has reached about 20% of the 2023 baseline, helped by acquisitions and planned disposals, including LotusWorks and the exit of oil, petrochemicals, coal, and government services.
Certification weakness: Certification had a slow first half, and management said the issue was execution-related rather than market-related, with sales and operations reviews underway to improve H2 performance.
Compliance provision: The company booked a EUR 32 million provision related to the compliance deviations disclosed in April, saying this reflects its best estimate of the full financial impact.
