Banpu Power PCL is a power generation company. It develops, owns, and runs power plants that produce electricity, mainly from thermal sources and some renewable projects. The company sells electricity to utilities and industrial buyers under long-term power purchase agreements, so its business is built around turning fuel and plant operations into steady power supply. Its main customers are national utilities and other large electricity off-takers in Thailand and in overseas markets where it has plants. Banpu Power makes money by selling the electricity its plants generate, along with related capacity or availability payments where contracts include them. Fuel, plant performance, and contract structure matter a lot because they shape how much cash the company can earn from each asset. What makes Banpu Power’s business model different is that it sits in the middle of the energy chain: it does not sell power to households at the retail level, but instead supplies bulk electricity from large power assets.
