Volkswagen AG
Investor Relations

Volkswagen AG is one of the world’s largest automakers. It designs, builds, and sells passenger cars, SUVs, vans, trucks, and related parts under brands such as Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Skoda, SEAT, and others. It also sells software, financing, leasing, and fleet services that help customers buy and use its vehicles. Its main customers are individual car buyers, businesses that run vehicle fleets, and commercial buyers who need trucks, vans, or buses. Volkswagen makes money mostly by selling vehicles and spare parts, then adds recurring income through financing, leasing, maintenance, and mobility services. That gives it both a traditional manufacturing business and a financial-services arm tied to car ownership. What makes Volkswagen different is its role as a group of many brands sharing engineering, manufacturing, and technology resources. It competes in both mass-market and premium vehicles, and it sits in the middle of the auto value chain: it turns design, software, and industrial scale into finished vehicles sold through dealer and direct channels. This makes it a key link between suppliers, factories, dealers, and end drivers.

AI Summary
Q2 2026

Demand: Volkswagen said underlying demand was stronger than the headline delivery decline suggested, with Europe up 3%, North America up 8%, South America up 9%, and the group’s standalone deliveries up 2% excluding China joint ventures.

China: China remained the biggest pressure point, with deliveries down 37% in Q2 and 26% in H1 as the market stayed weak, subsidies ended, and competition intensified; management said new locally developed models are starting to gain traction.

Profitability: H1 sales revenue was stable at EUR 158 billion, but operating profit fell to EUR 5.9 billion and the margin was 3.8%; excluding special effects, the margin was 4.3%.

Cash flow: Automotive net cash flow improved sharply to EUR 3.2 billion, up EUR 4.5 billion year over year, while net industrial liquidity stayed strong at EUR 32.7 billion.

Outlook: Volkswagen kept its full-year guidance unchanged, including an operating return on sales of 4% to 5.5%, automotive net cash flow of EUR 3 billion to EUR 6 billion, and net liquidity of EUR 32 billion to EUR 34 billion.

Restructuring: Management said the current cost programs are not enough and launched a broader 2030 transformation plan aimed at simplifying the group, reducing model complexity, cutting overhead, and improving plant efficiency; they expect final agreement on some elements later this year.

Portfolio moves: The sale of 51% of Everllence to Bain Capital is expected to bring in about EUR 7.4 billion, and management said Volkswagen will remain selective on capital allocation and could use proceeds to strengthen liquidity and fund future restructuring needs.
