Corebridge Financial Inc
Corebridge Financial is a retirement and insurance company. It sells retirement savings products, annuities, individual life insurance, and workplace retirement plans. In simple terms, it helps people save for retirement, protect their families, and turn savings into income later in life. Its main customers are individuals, employers, plan sponsors, financial advisers, and institutions that want retirement and insurance products. Corebridge makes money mainly by collecting premiums, fees, and investment-related income from the assets it manages for policyholders and retirement clients. A lot of its business comes from long-lasting contracts, so it earns money over time as customers keep their policies and accounts in place. What makes Corebridge different is that it sits at the meeting point of insurance and retirement planning. It does not just sell one-time coverage; it also manages products that can stay with a customer for many years and move with them through saving, investing, and retirement income. That gives it a steady role in the financial system as a provider of long-term protection and retirement products.

Results: Corebridge said second-quarter performance was in line with full-year guidance, with adjusted pretax operating income of $664 million and EPS of $1.12.
Capital returns: The company returned $412 million to shareholders in the quarter, including $300 million of buybacks, and said cash generation has topped $400 million for 14 straight quarters.
Merger progress: Management said shareholder approval of the Equitable merger was a major step forward, regulatory review is on pace, and the deal is still expected to close by year-end.
Retail annuities: Retail sales were softer early in the quarter because of heavier competition, but June was the strongest month of the year and momentum continued into July.
Investment drag: Variable investment income came in below expectations, with alternative investments hurt by software weakness and broader market volatility; management expects that pressure to continue for the rest of 2026.
