Mixed quarter: QIAGEN said Q1 sales were below plan, but adjusted diluted EPS of $0.54 came in line with outlook thanks to disciplined cost control.
QuantiFERON hit: The main disappointment was QuantiFERON, where sales fell 5% CER because immigration-related testing demand dropped sharply in the U.S. and the Middle East.
Outlook cut: Full-year 2026 guidance was lowered to 1% to 2% CER sales growth from at least 5%, while adjusted diluted EPS guidance was trimmed to at least $2.43 from at least $2.50.
Still confident: Management said the QuantiFERON issue is isolated to immigration volumes and expects sequential improvement through the year, with stronger growth in the second half.
Margin intact: QIAGEN kept its full-year adjusted EBIT margin target of 29.5% and said Q2 should already be north of 29%, helped by efficiency programs and mix.
Life Sciences cautious: The company also turned more cautious on U.S. life sciences spending, especially in research, academia, OEM, enzymes and oligos.
Pipeline support: New launches in sample technologies, QIAcuity, QIAstat and Parse were described as important second-half growth drivers, with Parse now expected to exceed its $40 million sales target for 2026.
