LSB Industries Inc
LSB Industries makes nitrogen-based chemicals used mainly in agriculture and industry. Its core products include ammonia, nitric acid, ammonium nitrate, and related fertilizer and industrial chemical products. These materials are sold to fertilizer distributors, farmers, and industrial customers that use them as feedstock or processing inputs. The company earns money by manufacturing these chemicals at its own plants and selling them into both contract and spot markets. A big part of its business is tied to natural gas, which is a key raw material for making ammonia and other nitrogen products. That means its results depend on chemical demand as well as the cost and availability of natural gas. LSB’s role in the value chain is straightforward: it turns natural gas into basic nitrogen chemicals that other companies use to make fertilizers, explosives, resins, metals, and other industrial products. What sets the business apart is that it sits at the intersection of agriculture and heavy industry, where reliable supply and plant location matter a lot to customers.

Results: LSB said first-quarter 2026 results were in line with expectations, with stronger pricing, volumes, and product mix driving a 44% jump in adjusted EBITDA to $52 million.
Outlook: Management expects second-quarter adjusted EBITDA to be meaningfully higher than both Q1 2026 and Q2 2025, even with the El Dorado turnaround underway.
Market: The company sees tight global nitrogen markets, with Middle East disruption, Strait of Hormuz shipping issues, and other supply outages likely to keep prices elevated through 2026 and into early 2027.
Operations: LSB said its industrial business is sold out, while ammonia and UAN demand remain strong and inventories look low heading into peak season.
Cash: The company generated $37 million of free cash flow in the quarter and ended with about $180 million of cash and 1.4x net leverage.
Capital plans: Management is reviewing expansion, debottlenecking, and possible acquisition or partnership opportunities, supported by strong cash flow and a $20.9 million settlement payment from Benham Constructors.
