Identiv Inc
Identiv makes security and identification products that help businesses control who can enter a place or access digital systems. Its core products include access-control hardware, RFID and NFC tags, smart cards, and connected sensors used to identify people, track items, and secure facilities. The company sells to enterprises, governments, healthcare organizations, and other customers that need reliable ways to manage physical access or item identification. The company makes money by selling hardware, tags, and related software and services through distributors, integrators, and direct sales channels. Customers use Identiv’s products in applications such as building entry systems, asset tracking, and identity authentication. In practice, Identiv sits in the middle of the security and auto-ID chain: it supplies the identification layer that connects a person or object to a secure system. What makes the business model different is that it is tied to everyday security and tracking needs rather than consumer brands or one-time projects. Many of its products are embedded into larger systems sold by partners, so Identiv benefits when organizations upgrade access control, improve traceability, or adopt contactless identity tools. That gives the company a role as a specialized component supplier in markets where reliability and compatibility matter more than flashy features.

Revenue beat: Identiv reported first-quarter sales of $7.4 million, above guidance, helped by strong demand from current customers, new customer conversions, and one larger customer pulling its full-year 2026 order into Q1.
Margin progress: Gross margin improved sharply year over year as production shifted to Thailand, though management expects some near-term pressure as IFCO ramps and demand softens in parts of the consumer business.
IFCO ramp: The company is moving toward pilot production of more than 0.5 million BLE smart labels and expects mass production to begin in the fourth quarter.
Macro softness: Management said it is seeing softer demand forecasts in some consumer-facing, higher-end product categories, but not outright cancellations.
Cash and spend: The balance sheet remains strong with $124.8 million in cash and restricted cash, while full-year cash usage is still expected to be $14 million to $16 million excluding strategic review costs.
Pipeline growth: Identiv’s new sales opportunity pipeline grew to 124 opportunities, and the company said it remains on track to commercialize ID Blue later this year.
