Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co KGaA
Fresenius Medical Care is a kidney care company. It runs dialysis clinics where patients with kidney failure receive regular treatment, and it also makes and sells the dialysis machines, filters, and related supplies used in those treatments. Its business sits at the center of chronic kidney care, serving both patients directly and the healthcare providers that treat them. The company makes money in two main ways: it gets paid for dialysis treatments delivered in its clinics, and it sells dialysis equipment and consumables to hospitals, clinics, and other treatment centers. Its customers include patients who need ongoing dialysis, as well as healthcare systems and providers that need dependable kidney-care products and services. What makes the business distinctive is that it combines a care network with a medical products business. That gives it direct insight into how dialysis is delivered and also a steady stream of demand for the equipment and supplies that those treatments require. In practice, Fresenius Medical Care is both a service provider and a core supplier in the dialysis industry.

Solid start: Fresenius Medical Care said Q1 began 2026 with continued operational and financial progress, including 4% organic revenue growth and 10% operating income growth.
Guidance held: Management reaffirmed the full-year outlook, including broadly flat revenue and operating income expected to stay on a high level, with a mid-single-digit change range.
TDAPA boost: Q1 benefited from about EUR 80 million of TDAPA support, but management said that turns into a significant headwind in the second half of the year.
U.S. operations: U.S. same market treatment growth fell 37 basis points, hurt by weather, missed treatments, insurance uncertainty tied to ACA subsidies, and mortality still above pre-pandemic levels.
HDF rollout: The 5008X and HighVolumeHDF rollout is accelerating, with more than 100,000 treatments in the first week of April and around 100 clinics converted.
Capital return: The company completed its EUR 1 billion buyback program early, repurchasing 24.8 million shares, or 8.5% of share capital, while leverage stayed at 2.6x.
