Albany International Corp
Albany International Corp. makes engineered textiles and equipment used in industrial manufacturing. Its main products include machine clothing for paper mills, such as belts and fabrics that help form, press, and dry paper, plus composite materials and parts for aerospace and other advanced industries. The company also sells machinery and related services that support these products. Its customers are mainly paper and packaging makers, aerospace manufacturers, and other industrial buyers that need highly specialized materials for demanding production lines. Albany makes money by selling these products directly and by providing replacement parts, consumables, and technical support that customers need to keep equipment running. What makes Albany different is that it sits deep in the manufacturing process, where its products are tied to uptime, quality, and precision rather than consumer demand. Many of its sales come from repeat purchases and long-running customer relationships, which gives the business a mix of industrial exposure and ongoing service-style revenue.

Revenue beat: Albany reported first-quarter revenue of $311.3 million, up 7.8% year over year, driven by strong Engineered Composites volume and better-than-expected Machine Clothing revenue.
Margin pressure: Adjusted EBIT was $48.2 million, or 15.5% of sales, down from last year as a higher mix of Engineered Composites, lower Machine Clothing volume, and foreign exchange weighed on margins.
Machine Clothing: The business saw stabilization in demand, especially outside China, and management said it should recover the remaining lost volume from the equipment outage by year-end if operations stay on track.
Engineered Composites: Demand remained strong across defense and commercial platforms, with new business wins including a Pratt & Whitney contract and higher production requests for JASSM and LRASM missiles.
Guidance: For the second quarter, management expects revenue of $335 million to $345 million and adjusted EPS of $0.70 to $0.80, while the full-year outlook calls for continued growth in Engineered Composites and stable demand in Machine Clothing outside China.
Strategic review: The review of the Salt Lake City facility housing CH-53K is still underway and remains on schedule, with management saying it is preparing marketing materials and staying close to customers throughout the process.
