Floor & Decor Holdings Inc
Floor & Decor Holdings sells hard-surface flooring and the materials needed to install it, including tile, wood, laminate, vinyl, stone, grout, underlayment, tools, and accessories. Its stores are built like large warehouse showrooms where customers can see products in person and take home what they need for a project. The company serves two main groups: professional contractors, installers, builders, and designers, as well as homeowners doing remodeling work themselves. It makes money by selling flooring products and related installation supplies through its stores and digital channels, with the biggest value coming from helping customers buy everything for a flooring job in one place. What sets Floor & Decor apart is its focus on hard-surface flooring rather than general home improvement. That narrow focus lets it offer a deep selection, a lot of products ready to take home, and a store format designed for project-driven shoppers who want both choice and convenience.

Results: First quarter sales were $1.152 billion, down 0.7%, and comparable store sales fell 3.7% as traffic weakened in a tough discretionary spending environment.
Guidance: Floor & Decor lowered full-year outlook and now expects sales of $4.770 billion to $4.990 billion and diluted EPS of $1.83 to $2.08, citing weaker demand and more uncertainty.
Buyback: The board authorized a share repurchase program of up to $400 million, with management saying it will be funded with excess cash, not incremental debt, and could start in the second quarter.
Mix Shift: Vinyl remained the biggest pressure point, but management said the company is reacting quickly with lower price points and value offers to match changing customer preferences.
Growth Plan: Floor & Decor still plans to open 20 stores in 2026 and is pushing ahead with smaller-format stores, a new Pro loyalty program, and commercial/B2B investments.
Margins: Gross margin came in better than expected at 44.0%, but management expects some pressure later in the year from tariffs, distribution center costs, and price investments.
