Record start: Churchill Downs reported record first-quarter net revenue of $663 million and record adjusted EBITDA of $257 million, with management saying execution was strong across the portfolio.
Derby momentum: The company said Derby Week is tracking ahead of last year and ahead of Derby 150, with Marcia Dall reaffirming $15 million to $20 million of incremental Derby EBITDA growth versus last year.
Preakness deal: Churchill Downs announced a definitive agreement to buy the Preakness and Black-Eyed Susan IP, and management said the long-term goal is to help strengthen an iconic racing asset in partnership with Maryland.
Virginia update: Management said Virginia remains attractive after the governor vetoed skill games, a Fairfax casino proposal, and iGaming did not pass, although other Virginia properties faced weather and competition headwinds.
HRM growth: Kentucky HRMs and the new Marshall Yards venue continued to drive growth, and early rollout of roulette ETGs was described as accretive with encouraging customer response.
Cash flow: The company generated $276 million of free cash flow and ended the quarter at 3.9x net leverage, while keeping full-year project and maintenance capex guidance unchanged.
